If you want an immaculate three bedroom family home with a very large garden overlooking fields, in a popular village location with a great pub a few minutes walk away, there's a large lounge and dining room to sit in and soak up the views, then may I suggest you keep reading, because this home is not just very special, it's also forever.....
Many village locations seem to offer the rural idylls that so many seek, but all too often they come with hidden disadvantages. Too pretty and famous and they become festooned with week-enders and tourists, too remote and they offer limited facilities and are simply a pain to live in.
Northop, however, is an exception to the rule, sporting a shop and post office, a thriving cricket club, three pubs and an award winning golf course, while remaining within a few minutes' drive of Mold, Flint and Deeside. It also manages to keep that indefinable village atmosphere, typified by the enthusiastically supported annual pantomime. Oh, yes it does....
At the head of the cul-de-sac and thus free from any chance of passing traffic to disturb your peace, sits number 101. Before you begin fearing any Orwellian overtones, rest assured, this attractive home conceals nothing unpleasant; in fact, quite the opposite.
To the front of the home is a neatly laid out and well maintained area of open plan lawn with a centrally positioned bed featuring an array of manicured shrubs and heathers, while to one side of this is a broad block paved parking area.
At the top of the driveway lies the door into the garage. Separate from the home, it's a place for all the things we think we need, but really don't want to keep in the house..... no, not the In-Laws!
A full length canopy style porch runs from the top of the lounge's box type bay window, offering protection from the elements for the poor soul having to unload the shopping in the rain.
A semi glazed white UPVC front door allows access to the large square inner hall, where to our right is the ever-useful downstairs cloakroom.
In here, we have a unitary lavatory and a modern hand basin with storage cupboards beneath. But this room is more than that, also containing plumbing for a washing machine and a condenser dryer, cleverly removing the laundry from the heart of the home, the kitchen.
Opposite here are a pair of fully glazed feature doors which open into the lounge. This is a very spacious room that manages that difficult trick of being big while remaining welcoming; it is somewhere that does not seek to intimidate. The room is kept bright thanks to the plentiful daylight afforded by the front-facing box bay window, which is supplemented by a set of sliding patio doors to the rear that overlook the charming and peaceful rear garden. If relaxation is your aim and you cannot find it here, it is not a house you need; it's therapy! When not enjoying the view, the room's main focal point is provided by the centrally positioned faux marble fireplace and the living flame gas fire it contains, giving all the warmth you could need, with none of the associated dirt and work.
There is ample room in the lounge for a large dining table and chairs, as some of the lounge photos depict. How you arrange this gorgeous home is really down to you, obviously.
The remaining door off the hall reveals the roomy and well appointed kitchen, where fitted units adorn three of the walls and provide a wealth of storage and work top space. There is space and voids for a full complement of the technological appliances that go so far towards ensuring a peaceful life in the 21st century. A window offers views over the massive garden and fields beyond.
At the far side of the kitchen, the back door opens into the cunningly thought out conservatory. Cunning in the way that we enter it via a narrow section attached to the side of the home, before turning into the main portion, taking full advantage of its raised position overlooking the garden.
This is the part that receives most of the sun during the afternoon, but as the shadows lengthen, the section to the side gets more and more of its attention. As a result, the room remains warmer for longer into the evening, while avoiding actually cooking your guests during the afternoon.
The garden is a delight to behold; a paved section runs across the rear of the home from the patio windows. Then we have a small flight of steps that lead down to a circular sitting area where a wooden summer house provides the ideal spot to chew the fat late into the evening as the sparks rise from the chiminea. The garden has been purposely designed to be able to take care of itself for holiday periods, so while far from maintenance free, it can never be seen as hard or onerous work. As I mentioned earlier, this is a home where relaxation is obligatory.
Returning to the hall, we climb the attractive and space saving turned staircase to the landing, where the first door on our right springs a real surprise.
Usually, three bedroom homes should be better described as two and a half because the third is so often little more than an afterthought and suitable for strictly single occupancy. Not here though, for this is a full sized double room, and a spacious one at that with room for a free standing wardrobe and large bedside cabinet. Now, should these prove inadequate, it also offers space for a large fitted wardrobe, but its crowning glory has to be the stunning rear facing view, down over the garden and the open fields beyond.
Moving to the front of the home, we find the family bathroom, which seems to have been fitted out with scant regard to cost, and it shows, having an air redolent of a small country house hotel. A pedestal hand basin suitable for bathing a small child sits beside the expected lavatory and traditional bath. All are surrounded by walls tiled to waist height before we come to the enclosed glass fronted shower cubicle, and thus giving you everything you need in a charming and unfussy way.
Beside here and also overlooking the front of the home, the second bedroom is another well proportioned double room. It's helped, in the matter of space, by its twin door fitted wardrobe, which largely negates the need for any free standing hanging furniture, and which easily leaves space for chests of drawers to accompany the double bed.
Finally, we come to the principal bedroom, positioned to take full advantage of the view over the neighbouring fields. As befits its status, this is a large room and made to feel positively decadent by its fitted furniture, comprising wardrobes on either side of the double bed connected by overhead storage lockers, and a pair of bedside cabinets. An 'L' shaped set of fitted chests of drawers occupies one far corner, complemented by yet another two door fitted wardrobe. It's evident that if you lived here, your Marks & Spencer loyalty card could be royally abused in complete safety...
